You pay alot, but IMO, its worth it.I've broken several Made-In-China 6" vises (stripped or broken screw/nut and even cracked a frame) and in doing so wasted more money than if I would have just bought right the first time.This thing has been solid as a rock and has already withstood more abuse than my last Chinese vise.It kinda hurts when you realize you can go to the local big-box and get a similar sized vise for a fraction of the price, but if you use them for anything other than light to moderate work, do yourself a favor and get a good one. It came shipped in just the manufacturer's box with absolutely no support and by the time it arrived at my door, it had several large holes in the box and it was completely open on one end (staples, no tape). If the cost is just too much to handle, look for a similar used unit at local estate/business/farm auctions. You'll still be better off.One thing I'd like to see improved is the packaging. I wonder how many times UPS dropped the dang thing. Luckily, there wasn't a scratch on it, and the handle wasn't bent like I had seen in another review.

What really sold me onWilton Vises was seeing there ability to take abuse and neglect from everyday use convinced me that in my home work shop,this vise should provideme a lifetime of service.
Excellent Product, Top Quality Vise.I bought 3 vises from China and destroyed all three within a few weeks. The quality just is not there in those products.If your looking for top quality and a really tough vise then you need not look no further. This is the vise that you are looking for.The price is more expensive then the Chinese versions, but you get "American Made Quality". This vise will be around for your grand children to use.
I sent it back and Amazon promptly sent me a new one which arrived in perfect condition. Great deal for a 53lb item. I ordered this vise from Amazon with FREE shipping. It is a big, solid tool that I'm sure will outlast me. It arrived promptly but there was a small chip on the edge of the anvil. I was afraid it may have affected the integrity of the the anvil. Hats-off to Wilton and Amazon. I'm very impressed with the service and the product.
Well-designed, well-made, massive, incredibly strong, but also smooth and precise. Expensive, but buying quality only hurts once, it repays for years and years.
